LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Thursday, October 16. The Legislative Council met at half-past 2 o'clock. THE GALLERIES CLEARED. Mr NURSE rose to give notice to ask the Government a question, the terms of which he I did not state, as the Colonial • Secretary mv mediately called attention to the presence of strangers, who, including, the reporters, were consequently ordered to retire. The doors were not unlocked till 10 minutes past 3, wheu the Council was found to be IN COMMITTEE on the Perpetual Trustees, Estate, and Agency Company of New Zealand Bill. This bill was eventually reported with amendments. : The report of the Committee regarding tha amendments made in the Trustees, Executors, and Agency Company Amendment Bill came up for consideration, and the debate was adjourned. GTHER BILLS, The amendments made in the Foreign Companies Bill were, on tha motion of the Hon. P. A. B.UCKLEY, agreed to. The Slaughterhouses Bill was committed, and reported with amendments, as also was the Wellington Harbour Board Loan Bill. At 5 p.m. the Council adjourned till 7.30. The Council roßumed at half-past 7. BILLS DEALT WITH. Mr M'LEAN moved the second reading of the Otago Harbour Board Loans Consolidation Bill, —After debate the motion was agreed to. ' . •
On the motion of Mr OLIVER, ths Dunedin Leasing Powers Bill was read a second time. The Otngo Presbyterian Church Board Incorporation Bill was read a third time and passed. Mr. WATERHOUSE introduced the Codlin Moth Bill, which was read a first time. The Council adjourned at 9.35 p.m. :
