Wellington, July 28. On Saturday Mrs Collins, residing near the Camp at Featherston, whilst in a state of drunkenness, set fire to her house. She was severely burned, and died yesterday. The house was saved.

. tJ Timabu, July 28. An old man named Patrick Joseph Dunean, aged about 75, who had been in New Zealand about 20 years, waß found dead in his cottage this morning. .He was last seen alive' on Saturday evening. The jury found on the medical evidence that he died of heart-disease.

„ , , _ Invekoargill, July 28. Helms Hotel and billiard-room at Clifton were burnt down yesterday morning. The fire started in the kitchen, and very little was saved. The hotel was insured for £600 in the Standard, and the stock for £50 and the furniture for £50 in the South British Office. The billiard-room and table were insured for £100 in the Norwich Union. Mr Helm estimates hia loss at £200 over the insurances.
