London, July 25. (Ecceivod July 26, at 4.30 p m.) Tha cricket match at Brighton, Australians v. Sussex, waa resumed to-day before a large number of spectators. The weather was unsettled, heavy rain falling at intervals, and play being occasionally suspended. The first innings of the Home team closed for 395. The highest scorers were : Wyatt (bowled) 112 • Phillips (caught) : 111. • '

_ The Australians wont in for their first innings, and at the close of the day's play had scored 223 with six wickets down. M'Donuell contributed 30 (bowled), Murdoch 87 (caught! and Midwinter 59 (not out). B ;'

July 26. (Received July 28. at 0-27 a.m.) Tha cricket match Australians v. Sussex was continued at Brighton to-day. There was a good attendance of spectators, but the weather was cold and inclement. The visitors, with aix wickets down for 223, continued their first innings, which closed for 309. The principal scorers wore: Midwinter (c), 66, Boyle (b), 48. Being 87 behind their opponents, the Australians again went to the wickets, but only scored 144 Two wickets fell to Barnes for a total of seven runß. The princi(c), 42 ■ Midwinter (c), 27. The fielding of the Home team was rather weak. The Home team then commenced their second innings, but had only scored 2d funs when play ceased. Blackman made 18, not out.
