LAND BOARD.

Tho ordinary meeting of the Board to-day was attended by Messrs Maitland (in the chair), Clark, Green, Duncan, Bradshaw, and Stont. JIAESEWHENUA. R, Cook appliud to occupy sections 8 and 9, block X, Maerewhenua, with 10 acre 3of the reserve in tho block, —Declined. WAITAHUNA. Ranger Hughan forwarded a report on rural deferred-payment holdings in blocks V, IX, X, and XI, Waitahuna West. He stated that he found most of tho selectors in personal occupation, and those who were absent were harvesting or assisting their neighbours at other work. Considerable improvements had been made since his last inspection, both in cultivation and fencing. KINLOCH. The licensees having paid rent due on license S2, jetty site, Kinloch, and transferred their interest in the same to the County Council, asked that the rents in future be remitted. — It was resolved to request the County Council to send in present license, when they would be willing to issue a fresh one at a nominal fee. OAMAWJ. Mr Everitt applied for a lease for seven years of sections 49 and 2 of 14, block VI, Oamaru, for quarrying, at £10 per annum.—lt was decided to issue a new license when all fees are paid. WAIPOBI. Rev. P. O'Leary (on behalf of the Catholic Church} applied to purchase section 5, block 11, Waipori, as a church Bite, and asked that section obe offered at a low upset.—lt was decided to offer the section at auction if so desired. MAUNGATCJA. R, Robinson applied for 15 acres of bush land, block XV, Maungatua.—Granted for three years. GLENOHAnU. An application by Messrs Connell and Moodie (for J. E. Pollock) to purchase sections 23 and 24, block IX, Gleuomaiu, was approved. STItATH-TAIERI. The inquiry re the Strath-Taieri cases of alleged durnmyism was adjourned until the 28 th February. TUAPEKA. Michael Nash, replying to a communication from the Board to show cause why his license for sections 33, 41, and. 42, block 11, Tuapeka West, should not be forfeited, stated that he had been in constant occupation of his allotment for the past six mouths, orected a residence, and cultivated GO acres of land, &c,, but that he happened to be absent the day the ranger inspected the land. —Capitalisation was allowed. Mr J. Thomson, on behalf of W. Smith, applied to purchase section 117, block XIX, Tuapeka Bast, —Adjourned for a fortnight. APPLICATIONS FOR AGIUCCLTUKAL LEASES. The following applications to purchase agricultural leases were recommended for the Governor's approval:—W. Olds, sections 22, 23, and 29, block 111, Cromwell; C. Murray, section i, block 11, Wakefield; G. Barnett, section 83, block IV, Shotover. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for P. Howard, applied to purchase IGS acres on run 210, Rock and Pillar district, — Deferred for a month. Messrs Chapman and Strode, for N. M'Lennan, applied for a pre-emptive right of 320 acres on run 440. —Consideration was adjourned for a week. A license was ordered to issue to T. Graham for deferred-payment section 6, block 111, Wendon. LAUDER. Consideration of the request of B. Naylor to surrender hia deferred-payment section 17, block 111, Lauder, was adjourned for two months. TIGEU HILL. Mr J. C. Chappie, for B. Moneply, asked that valuation for improvements be placed on section 31, block 11, Tiger Hill.—Referred to the district land officer. An application by Messrs Connell and Moodie, for William Falconer, for ,49 acres in block VIII, Gleuomani, was referred to the ranger. OTNBACK, Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr Glover, requested that sections 11, 12, 13, and 14, Dunback, should be put up for sale.—Ad journed for a fortnight. WYJfDHAJr. ' An application by E. Wild for section 34, block lit, Wyndham, was approved, subject to the Chief Commissioner finding no objection. TABLE HILL. Ranger Hughan forwarded a report on deferred-payment holdings in blocks IV and V, Table Hill, and stated that tho licensees wore carrying out the provisions of the Act. Johanna White requested that section 44, block VI, Table Hill, be opened for sale ; and H. B, lHett that section 37 be opened.—Adjourned for a week, KELSO. The District Land Officer forwarded a letter from the Kelso Progress Committee requesting that block VII should be put for sale at an early date. —Adjourned for a week.

It was decided to withdraw from sale sections 24, 25, 20, 27, and 42, Cairn Hill, as a portion of the mining reserve.
