(Fib Usithd F&xas Assoouuos.) Wblmxgton, Novomber 19. A telegram from Hokianga this afternoon Btates that the barque India is ashore imide Hokianga Heads, and is fast breaking up. She belongs to Mr T. Henderson, jun., of Auckland, and has been engaged in the Island trade. She'was 2C2 tons register, and was built at New Brunswick in 1853. The Colonial Company has a policy ol £205 on her cargo ol timber. The balance of the cargo is believed to be insured in Sydney in the Southern Insurance Company (Limited).

Tho barque La Franco was towed Ho sea yostorday forenoon, and sailed for Lyttclton with original cargo from tho Mauritius.

The brigantino Defianco was towed up to Dunedin yesterday morning by the s.s. Plucky. The ship Canterbury is to loavo Port Chalmers this morning for the Blue. Th 6 s.s. Ino sailed yesterday for Fortroso. The s.s. Kotorua left Port TJhalmera yesterday afternoon for northern ports. The as. Taiaroa left the Rattray street Wharf ye3terday evening for Timaru. The ship Nelson has taken in 2140 bags grain aud 200 bales of wool.

The Bhip Hurunui has taken in 935 sacks of grain. The barque Wakefield has met with ijuick despatch. She has already put out TOO tons of cargo. A barque, bound north, passed Capo Saunders at 1.30 p m. yesterday. A ship from the southward passed Cape Saonders at 5.50 p m.' yesterday. The e.s. Maori arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday at 7.45 p.m. She left Oatnaru at noon, and encountered Btrong southerly winds and thick rainy weather during the passage.

The Jessie fieadman will not como to this port to load, it having been deemed by the harbour authorities advisable to wait til the harbour has been dredged to a greater depth beforo inviting vessels of her draught to load here.—North Otago Times. Captain Hallet, formerly of the lonic, is now in command of the Tongariro.
