PORT CHALMERS HARBOUR BOARD NOMINATIONS. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir.,—ln view of the forthcoming elections for the Lowor Harbour, it would be well for tha burgesses of Port Chalmers to take into consideration the fitness of the men seeking to represent them. They have no less than six candidates to choose from,- and three of these are eminently suited to take their place on the Board. For several years past one of them, Mr John Mill, has done good service, and held his grouudagaiQSt heavy odds. His conduct has been all that could be desired by any constituency, and the people of Port Chalmers cannot do better than show' their recognition of his past services than by returning him'as one of their representatives. Mr Elder has many strong claims on the consideration of the electors, and few better men could anywhere be found to represent the interests of a seaport. Mr Dodson, the present Mayor, is young and energetic, is a good business man, and in everything he ha 3 undertaken for the public good has been successful. These, Sir, are the kind of men necessary to represent the interests of the Lower Harbour on the Board, and it is sincerely to be hoped they will, be elected for that purpose.—l aaa, &c, Old Salt. Port Chalmers, November 3.
