Wanganui, September 15. The Native Minister, who arrived in town on Wednesday, had a cordial interview with Major Kemp yesterday.

Masterton, September 15. . An indignation meeting of the Masterton Volunteers was held last evening to protest against the conduct of Major Bunny on the occasion of the visit of the Governor to Masterton. About 40 men were present, and Captain Donald presided. After several condemnatory speeches had been made, the following resolution waa carried unanimously :—" That the Masterton Volunteers, after the treatment received from Major Bunny on Thursday laat, tender their resignation in a body." A petition to the Minister for Defence, stating the reasons for the disbandment of the corps, was then drawn up ani signed by ail present.

Wellington, September IC. A Norwegian named Gabriejson, who deserted from the ship Oxford, on board of which he was employed as sailmaker, was found on the beach at Oharui yesterday by two station hands in a very exhausted condition. Gabrielson asserts that he had not touched food for 16 days, and during that period ho had not seen-a living soul. His feet present the appearance of having been frostbitten. He was sent into town, and subsequently to the Hospital, where he received treatmont.

Hokitika, September 15. Tho Mayor, on a large requisition, has callod a public meeting for Monday to consider the unsatisfactory working and management of tho harbour, and to devise moans for remedying the same.

A Prospecting Association, with a capital of £2000, was formed last night to thoroughly prospect the Malvern district, where some excellent samples of gold havo boen found. September 16. Mr Jacobsen returned yosterday from Alford Forest. He states that sinking has been commenced, and some stones found rather larger than thoso sent Home by Mr Kelsey.
