RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Friday, 30th March. (before E. H. Carow, Esq., R.M.)

Judgment was given for plaintiffs in the following cases:—B. K. Gillan y, G. Francis, claim £4 sr>, for goods supplied; Woodware Factories Company v. Captain Moffatt, £14 10s ; B. S. Cariton v. J. Keeting, £1 ISs Id; Thos. Bennett v. ,T. Rendell, £8 16s Id. H. Wertheira v. W. Metcalf.—Claim £G 133 Gd, for a sewing-machine.—His Worship decided that he had no jurisdiction in the case, as the order for the machine was given at Ashburton.

C. S. Reeves v. S. J. Jackman.—Claim £30 Bs, money due in connection with a'mining transaction. —Mr Mouat appeared for tho plaintiff, Mr D. M. Stuart for tho defendant. —Plaintiff was nonsuited. •

Frarrc Siedeberg v. John Etnpon.—Claim £57 17s 3d, money duo for mining shares sold. —Mr Macgregor appeared for the plaintiff, Mr Mouat for the defendant. —The case wag partly gone into, and adjourned for a week on the application of the defendant. Robert Clifford v. G. S. Paul.—Claim £1, for damages alleged to have been occasioned by defendant to certain paper used in thegelatinobromide process of photography.—Mr Fitchett appeared for the plaintiff, Mr J, A. D, Adams for the defendant.—His Worship said the case was a very paltry ono, but as the evidence was in favour of tho plaintiff, ho would give judgment in his favour for what ho thought was a fair valno for tho paper destroyed—viz., 2a 6d, .and costs amounting to £1 'is.
