LosnoN, March 28th. (Received March 29th, at 1.30 p.m.) The first batch of six men who were convicted at Belfast of conspiring to murder have been sentenced to terms of penal servitude varying from five to ten years. The homeward mails via Brindisi, which left Melbourne on February 14th, were delivered here yesterday. The death of John Brown, the personal servant of the Queen, is announced. March 29th. (Keceivod March 30th, at I a m.) The Bank of South Australia has declared a dividend of 5 per cent, for the past half. year. The second batch of six prisoners who were found guilty of conspiring to assassinate Irish landlords have been sentenced to 10 years' penal 'servitude. Twenty-one of the 26 persons arrested at Balliurobe have been released from custody. The Right Hon. Anthony Mundella has now recovered from his recent indisposition. In the course of an address to a crowded audience at Birmingham last evening, the Marquis of Salisbury declared that the unstable policy of the Government could not fail to alienate the confidence of the people. It is reported that Peru has ceded the province of Tarapaca to Chile, and Tacna and Atica to Bolivia.

(lteoeivcd March 29th, at 1.80 p.m.) It in announced that, acting upon the advice of the Agent-general, the Government havo' decided to place the redemption loan of two millions on the London market at an early date. The Postmaster-general of New South Wales telegraphs that ho has no objection to take part in the proposed Postal Conference, but he anticipates little advantage from jt. Svdxev, March 29th. (Received March 29th, at 10 p.m.) Sailed, this afternoon: Union Company's steamship Wairarapa, for Auckland. No successor has yet been appointed to Mr \V. Copeland, who recently resigned the portfolio for Public Works. The victory of "Darobin for the Sydney Cup has proved disastrous to tho public.
