The first of the prisoners charged with the murder of two bailiffs at Lough Mask has been found guilty, but sentence has been deferred.

The Bight Rev. Edward. Harold Browne. D.D., Bishop of Winchester, has declined the Primacy of England.

The Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone has received numerous congratulatory letters and addresses on tho jubilee of his Parliamentary life. He was first elected (in the Conservative interest) for Newark at the general election in December; 1832. (Special to Press Association.) London, December 13th. Joseph Chamberlain, who was a candidate for election at the Reform Club in April last, but was blackballed, is about to sue Mr Alexander Boyd for £5000 damages for having stated (it is said on the authority of Mr Robert Torrens, M.P.) that he (Mr Chamberlain) had been guilty of some misconduct in Adelaide. December 14th. (Received December 15th, 1682, at 1.15 a.m ) The Boers have captured Nampoer. Sir Charles Wentworth Dilke will probably succeed the Hon. John Bright as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. The Daily News states that the Commission appointed to inquire into affairs in the Western Pacific will include Sir Arthur Gordon, Rearadmiral Hoskjnsj and Sir Samuel "Wilson. The Sultan is terribly alarmed at the apparent discontent of the Turkish soldiery.

Prince Bismarck is suffering from a severe attack of neuralgia, and can scarcely articulate. Earl Derby, in referring to the Madagascar difficulty, recommends a friendly mediation, and is also of opinion that it would be wise to spend a million on Irish emigration. The Tories support the national view.
