Breach op the, Peace.—Andrew Anderson ; Simpson and Henry Burgess were charged with behaving in a manner with intent to provoke a broach of the peace in Princes street on tho : 14th jnst. at 12.30 "a.m.—From the evidence submitted by the police it appeared that the1 two young men were proceeding along Princes street when one, getting ■on the' other's shoulders, reached up and. pulled down two'" hats that were hanging outside a hatters-shop.l On being remonstrated with by;a,constable they used abusive and .obscene language;— The • accused Simpson was further charged with using obscene language.—The accused denied the charges, and gave quite a different statement to that of the constable.—rßurgess was fined 10s, or 21 hours' imprisonment;:Simpson 10s, or 24 hours'on each charge. ..-. .-. : -... ..-: ■■ ; '■■ iLttMALLY on Premises.— James Thompson was charged with being illegally on the premises of George Morgan, in St., Andrew street, at 1.40 a.m. on the 14th insti—Accused said he once lived in the locality of complainant's house. On thenight in question he got drunk, and wandered on :to defendant's premises.—The police having no, reason; to doubt ttiis statement, accused was discharged. Larceny.—Jane Ferguson pleaded guilty to two charges of stealing on tho.lSth. The first was aeharge of stoalingasatin-cloth dress, value £2 Us, tlie property of Sum Cue ; the second a charge of stealing a", parasol, value 13s, the property of Tone Duck..—Accused was sen-tenced-to 14 days'imprisonment. . The Dust-tut Nuisance.—Nellie M'Lauchlan, a servant girl, was charged with having left a number of dust-tins on tne Princes street: footpath.—She, pleaded guilty, and ignorance, regarding the bye-laws.^His Worship thought, the police might get a stronger, case, and after cautioning the .defendant, dismissed, the case. - . ■ ' .■".■'•■ .■■■ : ■.■.■-•■;-■
