Government Wctiiloationa. SALE OF PASTORAL LEASES OF CROWN LANDS. PRELIMINARY NOTICE. General Cro»n Lands Offico, Wellington, 20th September, 1882. ONE million seven hundred and lifty thousand Acros of CROWN LANDS will shortly bo opon for PASTORAL LEASE in this Provincial District of Otago, Now Zealand. Tlilh country is at present held under leaso in fortyBix runs until the Ist March, 1884, and will again bo offered in runs suitable to tho naturo of tho country; but no lessoo will bo allowed to take up moro than will carry twonty thousand sheep or four thousand head of cattle. . . ~ . ] The loases will be for a term ofyears ts bs horonftor determined, but in no caao will any leaao bo for a porlod exceeding twonty-ono years. Compensation for improvement up to throo years' rental will bo allowed at the end of the lease. In order to give now pastoral lessees time to make arrangements, tho licenses will, in terms of the Land Acts, be Bold by public auction, at the Land Office Dunodin, in the latter end of FEBRUARY, 1883 twelve months before possession is to bo given. Ono year's rent will bo (payable in a ivance on the license at the time of talc. Tho country has been occupied for upwards of twonty years. It is well grassed, well watered, sound, and healthy. Distance from port by good roads and railways part of the way, from thirty to ono hundred and fifty miles. , • Maps'and further, particulars will be obtainable hortly at the Land Offices of New Zealand, and at places in the Australian Colonies to be named in future advertisements. Traducer (Le Loup's sire) wa9, until his death in 1880, known as the champion sire of New Zealand, having tegotten some of the best performors we have ever had. Among his offspring (apart from Le Loup's full brother and sisters) were:—Templeton (winner of tho Dunediu Cup, Canterbury Cup, and-innumerable other races), Betrayer (won Canterbury Cup and Wanganui Cup), Calumny, Natator (winner of C. J.C. Derby, &c), Sir Modred (winner of Dunrtlin and Timaru Cups), Trump Card, Sießta, Virginia Water, Libeller, Chancellor, The Dauphin (winner of C.J.C.
