WEST TAIERI RIVER BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held at Outram on the 30th Septomber. Present— Messrs Shand, Allan, Grant, Dow, Snow; and Chisholm.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

The following report was received from the surfaceman: —" I have the honour to report to you that the work at'Kirkland's Bend is now finished according to instructions given by the engineer, and herewith I beg to hand in an account of pay now due for labour, amounting to £251156 d._ It was also recommended to put in two groins ■ near the railway bridge, which, however, has not been done, as the inspectors advised that it should remain until after'the next meeting. I have also to report that the groins opposite Mr Shand's house are in a very dilapidated condition, and very much require repairs. I have also to report that some cows belonging to Mr Wm. M'Leod are continually trespassing and destroying the willows on the bank of tha river."

Accounts amounting to £35 14s lid were passed for payment.! The surfaceinan'was instructed to lay inforr mation against !any person having cattle trespassing on the banks of the river.
