Drunkenness. —Eight drunkards were dealt with. Duncan Cameron, who while drunk at the railway-station had created a great disturbance, was fined £5, in default one month s imprisonment. v . . OBSTRUOTiNa.THE Police.—Robert B. iwmg was charged with obstructing Constable May in the execution of his duty on the 30th ult. — The Bench remanded the case until the following day. Obscene Language.—Mary Whar charged Mary Calligan with making use of obscene language towards her.—Mr E. Cook appeared for the complainant.—The case was adjourned until the following day, at the request of the defendant. An old woman named Annie Evans was charged with making use of obscene language in Maclaggan street on the Ist inst. — I The police represented her as a very troublesome character; and the Bench, being satisfied that the gaol was the best place for her, inflicted a fine of £5, in default three months' imprisonment. Disorderly Conduct.—James Curtis and William Hayes were, charged with being guilty, while drunk, of riotous and disorderly conduct in the Caversham Hotel on the Ist inst:^ Thomas Porter, the licensee of the Caversham Hotel, deposed that on the previous evening the prisoners came to his hotel and demanded some liquor. Witness refused to supply them, and they thereupon used obscene language and knocked down Air Titcheneiy who was talking to witness at the hotel door. They were both under the influence of drink.—The.Bench sentenced both prisoners to a week's imprisonment, without the option of a fine.
