The bank reserve is £11,800,000. The bank rate remains at 5 per cent., the market rate at i\ per cent.
Colonial breadstuff's aro dull at last quotations.
There U a good demand for hides, and full prices are obtainable. Australian tallow is firm.
At to-day's wool sales loss demand was experienced, aud prices were occasionally easier. The catalogue comprised 11,400 bales, and 22,230 bales have been withdrawn from sale siiico the opening of the series.

Now Zealand securities are unchanged.
Adelaide wheat remains at 47s (ex store), and iS'e.w Zealand ditto at 45s to 475. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,950,000 quarters, being 180,000 quarters less than last week's quantity. Adelaide Hour (ex warehouse), 345.
Australian tallow: Best beef has fallen to 44s lid per cwt, and best mutton to 465. Australian leather, best sides, lljel.
At the wool sale to-day 8500 bales were offered. The bidding generally was quiet, scoured wools especially being neglected.

Intelligence is to hand that the Czar has reached Moscow, and received a great ovation from the people. The Atchoeneso have defeated the rebels with great loss. The greater part of tho Tyrol is suffering from terrible inundations ; famine, ruin, and death meet the unfortunate inhabitants on every side. Stanley, the African explorer, has arrived at Lisbon, and reports that Ms expedition has been most successful. Several stations have been established.

At'the wool sales to-day 28,200 (?) bales were catalogued to-day, 23,000 being withdrawn. The market is steady, and prices remain unchanged from last quotations.
