The object of tho proposed Company shall bo to prospect the reefs in the Tuapeka County by aid 0 the diamond-drill, and tho alluvial ground by means of tho most suitable boring-macliine available. " It is a well-known fact that numorous reofa bearing gold, copper, antimony, &c. exist iv tho Tuapeka County that only require ta bo prospected by such an admirablo machino as tho diamond-drill to prove their mineral extent aud determine whethor thoy can be profitably worked. Tho intention of the Company is not at prcßont to purchase a diamond-drill, but to apply a portion of its capital towards paying tho working expenses of one to be supplied by tho Government to tho Tuapeka County Council. Should tho Company, however, dotermino to purchase ono o( these drills, the Governmont have liberally offered to subsidise them to the extent of £760 for that purpose. Tho Provisional Directors, having obtained a largo quantity of valuable information from a variety of sources, including letters from Profeßsor Ulrich and Dr Hector, en tho capabilities of the diamoud-drlll, find that while it Is admirably adapted for penetrating reefs or any hard substance, it is not so well suited for alluvial ground. Thoy have thoreforo made themselves acquainted with tho host modern appliances for boring ln alluvial ground, and one of tho first efforts of tho proposed Company will be to obtain a boring-machine well fitted for testing tho comented drift deposits of Tuapeka, Waitnhuna, and Waiporl Flats. MachiJCß well adapted for this purpose aro now to ke had at a cost of about £200, with fittings complete, and Government have offered to subsidiso tho Company to tho extent of £160 for tho purchase of one of theso boring-machines. Thero can be no doubt as to tho auriferous nature of those cements, and it is woll known that thoy extend over a vast area cf country; but tho ordinary process of sinking prospecting Bhafts is bo expensive as to bo beyond tho roach of privato ontorpriso. With tho latest improved machines, boring can bo effected at the rate of i\ feet per hour by manual power, and a thick core of the strata penotratcd brought to the surface, and oxposed for examination. Calls in the propoaed Company havo been fixed at tho rato of 3d per week per eharo, to bo called up monthly. This small sum has beon decided upon to bring the claims of tho Company within tho roach of aH. The advantages to Shareholders will bo as follow :— In tho evout of any pa}'ablo reefs or deposits bolng discovered, each Shareholder will be entitled to an interest in tho discovory ln proportion to tho number of shares he holds, and It will bo at tho option of tho Company to sell their discovery to the best advantage or work it themselves, as may bo doomed most advisable.
