ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
Th« adjourned meeting of laombers, held yesterday afUrnoon at i o'clock, was attended by Messrs A. C. Beglf (chairman), P. F. Stoddart, K. C. Strode, W. C. Smith, A. Bathgate, W. Arthur (sacrotary), P.O. Mail!, and Dean* (manager). it wu resolved not to accept Banger Burt's resignation until ho had completed aoine prosecutions he had I now In baud.
The BscEMUBY said that the only other business mto fix tho filming season, licenses. &c. He had tclegnt bed to the secretary of the Qucenotown Society, BUjTgestiDr that monthly licences might bo Usued; and Mr Worthin, ton hod replied that monthly lleeuges should be issued to non-residents in Otago only, otherwise the system was open to abuse. Ho had expresiod the opinion that the season for the Lukes district should be curtailed by a fortnight at tho beginning and a fortnight at tho close. Mr Maltland, who was unable to attend the meoting, had written stating that he would rather see the season curtailed than lengthened. The Chairman thought tho season should remain ai it was, and Mews Nkill and Batuoath expressed similar opinions. Mr Sioddabt thought that the season should bo extended until April, ai that was the best time for good iport, there being no floods until after March. He was not in favour of continuing the hours after dark, as at that time poaching was done. It was resolved that the season b« aa hithertohorn October l»t to March 31st-the Water-of-Leith to be opon for four months only; also that the hours for fishing be restricted from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thti flihiix license was fired at £1 ; licenses to noilzesldents to bo issued at 10s for the month.
