MINING INTELLIGENCE.
The Arrowtown correspondent of the Cromwell Argus writes :—" Mining at theMacatown reefs is progressing in a satisfactory manner, and has so far been much favoured by the weather, of which the most is made by those parties in full work. The AH Nations Company is Btill in a trantition state, and it is to be feared that the present season will elapse without anything being done to this mine. This Company, it appearß, has never got over the mistake made in its constitution—viz starting with a fully paid up capitaL= This fatal blunder prevents the management making calls, and the Company being-slightly involved in debt complicates its positfon very much, as itsaffairs cannot be wonnd up until the debt is paid off. The Maryborough Company have accepted tenders for the construction of a tramroad from their mine to their battery in Sawyer's Gully. The work will be taken in hand at once, and it is probable that this Company will enter the lists cs a cakeproducing one before the present season closes."
