MOVEMENTS OF UNION STEAM SHIP COMFANY'S STEAMERS. Thursday, December 30. Auckland—Rotorua sailed 10.30 a.m. for Gisborne. Albion arrived 5 a.m. from Fiji. .Nelson—Wanaku arrived morning fJom New Plymouth ; sailed afternoon for Picton. Picton—Wanaka arrived evening from Nelson; sailed evening for Wellington. Lyttelton—Arawata arrived 10 a.m. from Port Chalmers; sailed 4.30 p.m. for Wellington. Penguin arrived 6.15 a.m. from Wellington; sailed 2 p.m. for fort Chalmers. Melbourne—Te Anau sailed Tuesday afternoon for JfloH. __■
The s.s. Maori, with 23 passengers and a full cargo «( wool, grain, and sundries, arrived at Port Chalmers at 10 p.m. on Wednesday. She left Oamaru at 3.45 p.m. on that day, and experienced strong head winds and heavy rain squalls .to arrival. The ketch Kestrel arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday morning, timber-aden from Catlin's River. She left the river on t:.e morning of the 29th inst., and experienced fresh southerly winds and squally weather The s a Ringarooma arrived at Port Chalmers at 9 ».m. yesterday from the Bay of Islands, via the East Coast. She left Russell [it 5.30 p.m. on the 22nd inst., and arrived at Auckland next day; left there at 0.15 Bin., and, after calling at Gisborne on the way down, reached Wellington at 7.40 .a.m. on the 20th inst., having experienced variable winds from Russell to lfa-jier, and afterwards a strong south-west gale and high sea. She left Wellington at noon on the 27th inst. with excursionists lor i'icton, and returned again on the same night; sailed for the South at 1.30 p.m. on the 28th, and encountered a strong north-west gale •until she passed the Kaikouras, when it moderated, and afterwards she had a strong southerly breeze down to Lyttelton, where she arrived at 5 a.m. on the 29th inst.; left again at 1.30 pan..same day, met squally weather down the coast, and came into harbour as above. We thank Mr S. Moore (the purser) for report and files. The schooner Mary Ellen sailed yesterday afternoon tot Moeraki. The s.s. Taiaroa left Port Chalmers yesterday evening for Timaru. The s.s. Ringarooraa leaves to-day for the Bluff and llelbourne, calling en route at Jlilford Sound. SUPPLEMENTARY SHIPPING. Since compiling our shipping summary, which appaarsin its usual place in this issue, there have been five vessels, of 1101 tons, arriving at, and three Tessels, of 873 tor,s, sailing from .the port of Otago— irinying up the total arrivals of the month to SO Teasels, representing 22,216 tons; .and the departures to GO vessels, showing a total of 20,508 tons. Last month's arrivals and departures amounted to 108 -reasela, showing a total of 44,590 tons register. VESSELS IS PORT.
