ROSLYN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the above Council was held last evening. Present—The Mayor (A. H. Ross, Esq.), and Crs Begg, Boenicke, Ferguson, Chisholm, Todd, Wilson, Fountain, Sherriff, and Mollison. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Town Clerk of Dunedin, relative to the extension of King street to the Town Belt.—Received. From Mr W. T. Dods, relative to the settling o£ a road-line at Bishop's Court.—lt was moved by Cr Bego, seconded by Cr Chisholm—" That the Council approve of Mr Dods' township, on the understanding that the street-line remains a private street, and that the Corporation is under no obligation to expend money on it."—Carried. From the Secretary of the Treasury, asking for returns, and giving notice of the withdrawal of the subsidy.—Received. QAS. Cr Fountain moved, and Cr Ciiisiiohi seconded— " That his Worship the Llayorand Crs Begg, Chisholm, and the mover wait upon the City Council with a view of furthering the interests of the petition re gas, &c." Carried. inspector's report. The report of the Inspector was received, and referred to the Works Committee. WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT. The report recommended that the road fronting the properties of Messrs Pettit, M'Corkindale, Mollison, and M'Gregor be formed as soon as possible; that the various accounts enumerated, amounting to £71155, be paid ; and that the metal on Brockville road, belonging to Mr G. T. Bain, be purchased at the price asked, 8s per yard. TENDERS. In reference to tenders for culvert over the Kaikoral Stream, Cr Fountain moved—"That the tender be referred to the Works Committee, with power to accept the lowest tender, subject to the prices, if schedule be correct, the previous' contract being first cancelled." Seconded by Cr Ferguson, and carried. NOTICES OK MOTION. Cr Chisholm to move—" That it be remitted to the Works Committee to procure and lay down metal screenings on footpaths in Leven street, cost not to exceed £20." By Cr Fountain—"That Church street be formed to its proper level, and footpaths constructed on each side and gravelled." TUB RATINO. Cr Beqg moved, and Cr Boksickb seconded—"That a general rate of Is in the pound, and a special rate of Cd in the pound, be struck for the current year."— Carried.
