It may be intere-ting to compare the quantity of produce grown this season with that grown last year. This can best be done by placing the figure* in tabular fashion, so that the relative quantities may be seen at a glacce. The figures for Waitaki County are as follow :— 1573 1579. Wheat (bushe'e) .. .. 1,007,958 7U>,"74 O.its (bushels) .. .. tj75,345 [13,UG6 Barley (bushels) .. .. 39,313 72,579 Hay (tons) .. .. 1,035 1,977 PouttoGn Ctnns) .. .. 4,7115 4.407 The average yields per acre Ibis year are, roughly speaking, estimated as follow:—"Wheat, 23j bushels per acre ; oats, 35 bushels per acre ; barley, 30 bushels per acre. In Waikouaiti County the crops for this year compare with those for 1878 as follows :— 1573. 1579 Whea'. It will be observed from the foregoing that while the average yield of wheat per acre in I Waitaki fell a long way short "f that of Waikouaiti, the average yields of oats and barley in this county are each considerably in advance of those of the sister county.
