At pbout one o'clock this morning a fire broke out at North East Valley, by which a four roomed wooden house, owned by Mr I\ M'Crae, of the Harp of Erin Hotel, and occupied by Mr W. One of them was ill, and as ahe was riainjr from her bed to attend to it, she knocked over a kerose na lamp. The r raml-ies were soon in a blaza, and the woman had baivly time to escape with her cbildren. Constable Sheehau, ■who is stationed in the district, rendered all the assistance in bis power, and succeeded in saving a shed adjoining the house. NYue of the furniture was saved, and the building was completely destrojeJ. Mrs Bums kept a small grocei'i shop, and we hear that the stock aud furniture were insured, but we could not ascertain the amount, or tbe name of the office. Amtsaengjr was sent ii-to town, but owing to the recent resolution of the City Council that the Brigade should not attend firea occurring outs'de the city, the alarm was not given, and the men w;re nut culled out.
