Sib, —Wby not Dunedin, as Edinburgh, have a n&tional monument?
In your issue of to-day " A.8.0." sucrgasts a speedy method of removing the bar at tbe Heads —namely, scrape it away with a large clat, and in a few hours too. I wou'd suggest that the clat be applied to the Harbour Board first, and remove it into that immense sewer built opposite George Eliott's office the other dayj then.lsay then, let their Rigantio blunder— to wit, the docks, &c —remain untouched just as it is, as a national monument of Dunedia folly. After the bar has been removed, as suggested, let Captain Thomson take in hand the keeping open the old channel up to lmnedin by dredging as he deems fit. Facili tate coasting and Colonial trade to Dunedin; but as for ocean ships and steamers, the;r place is Pot Chalmers, their discharge and loading facilitated by plenty of rail and ither commuuij cation to tbe capital, Dunedin.— I am, &0..
