RELIGIOUS.
The annual meeting in connection with the Mornington Wesleyan Church Home Mission and Church Extension Fund was beld on the 3rd. Mr Henderson Law presided, and there wero about forty persons present. The Secretary (Mr Williams) read the annual report, which Bhowed that L 3 14s 9d had been raised towards the fund in the Mornington circuit. Addresses were delivered by the Eevs. J. Crump (President of the Conference), A. K. Fitchett, 8.A., and J. J. Lewis, after which a collection was made in [aid of the funds, the amount realised being Ll C 3. The following wero appoiuted a Committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs Bentley, Eskett, Liad, M'Lean, Strachan, Seweli, Walker, and Williams (Secretary). At the meeting of the Presbyterian Synop at Christchurch on the 2nd inst, some discussion took place on the subject of Bible reading at schools, and a general opinion waa expressed that although it was very desirable that the Bible sbould be read, at the same time it would not be advisable to take any active steps in the matter at the present time.
