WEST COAST.

Hokitika, September 28th. We have had a continuance of the most severe weather all the week. The steamer Waipora is supposed to be in shelter at Jackson Bay. The rivers are all flooded. Traffic inland is all stopped. No Christchurch coach has arrived since last Saturday.

October lst. The Christchurch coach has just arrived, after an eight days' journey. The driver reports all the rivers heavily flooded. The coach upset in one river, and three horses were drowned; and the passengers had a narrow escape. The Chief Justice and Judge's Associate and other passengers are still at Cass, and will not reach here before to-morrow night. Some of the passengers' luggage was lost, but the mails arrived safely. . ■ Ahauha, September 27th. Heavy rain has fallen during the last two days, and the rivers are rapidly rising. There is no communication with Eeeftqn owing (to the floods. The rivers are still rising.

Reefton, September 29th. The rivers are still flooded here, and rain continues with no immediate prospect of cessation.

Hokitika, October Ilth. There is a heavy fresh in the rivers, And all the Christchurch coaches are again delayed. Ahadra, October Ilth. It has been raining heavily, accompanied by a sttong wind, during the last 20 hours, with no appearance of breaking up. The rivers are rising rapidly, and traffic has been suspended. A flood is expected. October 12th. Ths Ahaura and Grey rivers were unusually high at midnight, but so far as yet ascertained, except a portion of the Ahaura convent grounds being washed away, no farther damage haß been done.
