A writer in Truth deals veryseverely withMr O'oounor Power, M.P. He says:—O'ConnorPower, in his strictures upon the Globe articla on O'Dounell, stated that he would not wipe his "brogues" with many of the Metropolitan. journals for fear of spoiling tho spotless purity of those coverings. Thia is, indeed, terribly severe. What, I take it is the sore point with this M.P. is that Metropolitan journals have exposed him ns a sham, masquerading under the Hibernian " 0," when his real name is Heming. Theblatanthumbugdoesnot like to bo stripped of his borrowed plumes, any more thaaO'Donnell was pleased to have it pointed out that his father served in the British army aa M'Donald, and that his mother is now, as MrsM'Donald, in receipt of a pension from the Saxon. How the Irish, who have a keen sens© of humour, can allow themselves to be cajoled by tbe "0 " trick, and to allow themselves to> he represented by such dreary dismal bores as O'Donnells and O'Connors, surpasseamy under» standing.
