The match was resumed today at 1 p.m., with fine weather. Newton and Cresswell, who were not out, went to the wickets, to the bowling of Lilly white and Southerton. Newton, who had made two singles previously, ran up 2, 3, and 1, when lie skied the ball into Armitage's hand. 3—B -10. Perkins joined Cresswell, when the latter was clean bowled by Southerton. 4-3—13. M'Gregor then joined Perkins, asd the two were expected to make a atand, but M'Gregor was bowled by Southerton after adding a single. s—l—lG. Pickering ■ and Perkins were then together, but Perkins was caught by Charlwood after only adding two. 6—2 —16. Tennant went next in, and after making two was clean bowled by Southerton, 7—2—23. The wickets then fell rapidly, Nixon being run out. B—o- 23. Martin was caught by Ullyett. 9—0—23. Guinness (captain) then joined Pickering, who was steadily scoring, but was disposed of with a duck's egg. 10—0—26. Dawe and Howorth followed, but were both bowled by Southerton without increasing the wore. 11—0—20 and 12—0—26. White joined Pickering and had made three when an adjournment was made to lunch. Pickering has scored nine, and the total, including two byes, is 30, with twelve wickets clown. , _. . On play being resumed after lunch, Pickering and White at the wickets, the former, after adding three singles, was caught by Selby. 13—11—34. Farquhar joined White, when the former was caught by Shaw after making a hit for two. 14-2—36. North was caught by Emmett first over. 15-0—36. Peacock came next, but White's time had come, as he was caught cleverly by Hill in long field. 10-0— 36. Howie joined Peacock, and when the latter had put a 3 and 1 together he was bowled by Lillywhite. 17-4-40, Morse was next man, and was expected to add considerably to the score, but the ffttes were against mm, his
partner, Howie, was caught by Armitage. 18^--3—43, Then Mace came to the wickets, but'it. was quite evident he was not fit for play. „ However, he managed to hold ..on-, till Morse was bowled by Southerton, after making 'only 4. 19_4_-47. Coy followed, adding 3.t0 the score, with Wethered, not out, 0. Total, 50. The Eleven sent Selby and Southerton to the wickets, to the bowling of Morse andpPerkins. Selby ran up 13 in fine style;;;; when; he was clean bowled by Morse. I—l3—lß. Greenwood joined Southerton, and in the first > over gave two easy catches, which were both missed, but shortly after Morse sent a shooter through Southerton's stumps. 2—10—31. Armitage was next man, but was run out atter adding only 3 to score. 3—3 —43. Charlwoou now joined Greenwood, who was hitting out freely, when he was caught by Martin, after .running up the top score of the match, 25. 4—25—46. XJllyett was next, Charlwood and he keeping the field leather-hunting till time was called at 6 p.m.—seeming to put the ball wherever they pleased. Charlwood, not out, 13; Ulyett, not out, 23.
