Engineer-in-thiefs Office, Adelaide, January 15th, 1877. mENDERS will be received at this A Office up till NOON of MOSDi.Y, 19th March, for the CONSTRUCTION of a LISE of RAILWAY between Kapunda arid ths North-west Bend of the Kiver Murray, being a total length of 55 miles 58 40 chains. The contract -will comprise every operation neces sary for the construction of a line of railway, with the exception of Station Buildings and works appertaining thereto; the supply of all labour and materials, except rails and fastenings for the permanent way ; and the maintenance of the wh le works f>r one month after the line has been formal'y openel for traffic. Drawings and Specifications may be inspected at this office: at the office of Messrs H. P.Welch and Co , Melbourne and Sydney; at the office of Me«rs H. Houghton and Co, Dunedin; at the Union Bank, Christehurch; at the office of Messrs Thornton, Prnith, aud Frith, Auckland; and at the office of New Zealand Times, Wellington. The works shown on the draw ings, referred to in the specification and enumerated in the approximate schedule of quantities, hat c been commence d by the Government by day labour, and the contractor will be required to take over the work in the condition in which it may be at the expiration of one calendar month from the date of the notification of the acceptance of his tender, when the works alreidy executed shall be finally measurud up, in accordance with clause 75 of the conditions ot control t. Each tender must be accompanied by a bank deposit receipt for £500 in favour of the .Honourable Commissioner of Railways, without which no tender will be entertained.
