At Colac, Victoria, FOURTH ANNUAL SALE OF MESSRS ROBERTSON BROTHERS' PURE SHORTHORNS AND HEREFORDS. "OICHARD GIBSON and CO. JOU have the pleasure to announce their intention of submitting to piibl c competition, without the slightest reserve, at Colic, on Friday, sth January, 1877, at 11 o'clock sharp, on account of the owners of the above well-known FF herd of cattle, Q/-V/-1 head of pure Shorthorn and Hereford O\J\J bulls, cowa, and heifers, including; the very best bred animals in their Btud herd. This herd was established over 30 year 3 ago by the late Mr William Robertson, by importations from England of some o. the very best strains of pure shorthorns and llcrefords then extant, and latterly most costly additions have been made in the purchase of the very htst imported sires, including, amongstothers, the well-known bulls Duke of Brunssvick (25,937), whoso ptock huvo realised more money than the progeny of any other bull ever introduced to tho Australian Colonies; al-;o, the pure Bates bull Earl of Geneva (31,088), purchased for tho sum of £1732 10s, which blood i 3 now more eagerly sought after by American breeders in the English market than any other strain. The Bth Duke of Geneva (28,390), whose breeding is nearly the same as the sire of the Earl, having been lately purchased, when nearly seven years old, at 2000 guineas, to go back to America ; and the produce of o>.e cow alone of the same strain—viz , 66th Duchess of Geneva (C. H. 8., p. 414, vol. II.)— has realised over £100,000 since August, 1853. A guarantee h s bean given th.t no private sales will be made, and buyers can, with confidence, depend upon the sale h'Au^ absolutely unreserved. To nuet the convenience of buyers, tho owners will undertake to deliver stock purchased at the m\e in Melbourne free of expense, and at their own risk.
