[By Telegraph.]

(BT. OCR SPECIAL KEBOBTER.)

President, Mr J. Douglas; Vice-President, Mr H. Orbell. Commiitee of managementMessrs A. Bannatyne, James Little, James Morrison, D. Malloch, J. C. Buckland, W. Todd, D. Kennedy, T. Dent, M. Todd, C. M'Gregcr, J. Biack, R. Jeffrey, J. Duncan, W. Heckler, W. Souter, T. Butters. Treasurer, Mr W. A. Young; Secretary, Mr W. Cowan.

The twelfth annual show of this Association took place at Palmerston yesterday. The thriving little town had quite an animated appearance. Many of the shops were closed, but there were numerous groups of people, from the, country.scattered about the streets, who imparted quite a holiday look. The show waa held in the Pound Paddock, a large paddock in the south end of the town. The show was well attended, there being about 700 persons present, and was the most successful that has yet been held by the Association. The cattle were rather below the average, but in horses, both" thoroughbreds and entires, for number and quality no previous show his excelled, and the exhibits would compare favourably with those of any other show held in the Province. The sheep were numerous and good. Mr William Heckler, of Waikouaiti, had alone about 30 on the ground. Mr Heckler took the chief prizes in merinos, and his fine sheep were greatly admired. Mr Young, of Pleasant Valley, took the prize for longwoolled, with a ram originally from the New Zealand Company's flock at Pleasant Valley, and Mr Heckler took the second prize with an imported ram from the Kirkham (Lincoln shire) flock, brought to this Colony by Messrs Maclean Brothers. Mr Heckler took the prize for two-tooth ram {long-woolled, with a Lincoln, got by the one already referred to from the Kirkham flock. Mr M'Aulay, of Awamoa, Oamaru, took second prize, with a ram got by Mr Menlove's Kirkham ram, Champion. Mr Heckler's ewes that were first and second prize-takers in the division, four-tooth and upwards in the long wool were of pure Kirkham breed, imported to the Colony by Messrs Maclean Bros. The third prize taker was bred by tho New Zealand and Australian Land Company. The sire of the first,, second, and third prize takers, bred by Mr A. M'Aulay (ewe two-tooth), is Mr Menlove's Champion. The pen of five fat long wool wethers or ewes (owned by Mr A. Sutherland) were bred by Mr Hepburn of Piaasant \ alley. The swine were not numerous, but those exhibited were regarded as very good, especially j the sow that took the first prize. The dairy produce was a credit to the district. Mr Deems, who took second prize for the best garden collection of fruit and vegetables, showed a lot of well ripened raspberries, a sight rather rare for this early time of the ysar. Mr Young showed extras in the shape of an excellent collection of strawberries. As the lady who makes the best home-made bread carries off the prize regularly, the suggestion has been made that she should be handicapped, so as not to frighten all other competitors out of the field. The Committee are to be complimented on their economy in printing, it being with the extremest difficulty that a catalogue could be got. Subscribed is the prize list:— Section A—Shout-horns.
