COMMERCIAL.

Daily Times Office, Thursday evening. No duty was collected at the Custom Home to-day.

Messrs Maclean Brothers report for the week ending December 14th, 1876, as follows:—

Fat Cattle.—Over 200 head good to prime quality came forward for Wednesday's market. On account of the mule having bought largely the previous week, this number was very much in excoss of requirements, consequently prices were lower than they have been for many months, and a good fow were held over for next market. We offered, on account of Messrs Shaw, B:own, Wallace, and others, 70 head primo quality. Best bullocks brought from £12 10s to £U ; cows, £8 15s to £10 10s—or equal to 30s per lOO.bs for prime quality. , Fat Calves.—Only a fow penned, which sold at from 25s to 40s each. Fat Sheeo.—About 1900 prime quality cross-breds were offered, a few pens of which were held over. Those sold brought from 10s Od to lis 3d for prime, and Ss 6d to 93 Od for medium. Fat Lambs.—About 500 good to priaie quality were penned, too many by half for the requirements of the trade, consequently prices wore down 2s per head from last weelt, the highest price for best quality being iPs.6d.„^S(liUiniift'old.' " Store Sheep.—We have several transactions pending, no sales of any importance have been concluded during the week; in fact, until shearing is furthor advanced, comparatively little business will be done, but we expect tint thereafter, throughout the summer, large numbers of this description of stock will change hands. Store Cattle—Tho demand continues active, and all lots offering meet with ready sile. Last week's ((notations are fully maintained, say, for bullocks, £7 to £9 10s ; cows, £5 to £7. At our Balclutha sale oa Tuesday, 12th inst., v c sold, on account of various vendors, 110 head ot from £6 to £8 10s for storo btcers, £10 to £10 ICs for bullocks three parts fat, and £il to £11 for fat cows. The attendance of graziers in the district was .good, and every hoof offered was sold.

Land Sale.—On Tuesday, 12th inst, we sold at Mosgiel, by order of Jame3 H. Keid, Esq., 100 acres of land, subdivided into lots of one to thirty acres, and subject to existing leases. There was a laige attendance of buyers and most animated competition, and every lot sold at prices ranging from £17 to £40 per acre.

Wool.—We have no advices from the Home market sine-, date ot our last. The new clip comes forward rather i-lowly, and we doubt if any sales will be held before Christmas. The quality and condition of the wool are all that could be desired, and the clip of thi3 season will be relatively the most valuable ever p oduced in this Province.

Sheepskins.—Wo catalogued 27 bales and 1000 loose skins on Wednesday. The attendance was good and the bidding spirited, and prices -somewhat in advance of last week's rates were obtained. Full wool crossbreds fetched from 4s 6' to 5s 7d ; merinoes, from 4s to 4s 7d. Bales sold at 5Jd to 6jd per lb. Hides are in better request, and during the week we placed 100 at frem 12s to IC*, or equal to 3}d per lb. Tallow.—A few ca-.ks ordinary sold at 29s 6d per cwt.

Grain.—Wheat may be said to be out of the market. Quotations, nominally 5s 6d to 6s for good to prime. We have sold some inferior (fowl feed) at up to 4s lOd. Barley, in cons-.querice, is in bettor request, and feed samples have been moved off at 2s to 2s GJ; milling, •2s 9d ; malting 13 neglected, as the season is over. Oats have come foi ward freely during the week, but have met a ready market at 2s 2J to 2s 3d for ordinary to good feed ; for milling, i. 3Jd to 2s Id—at which rates we have sold several large parcels.
