RICHARD GIBSON and CO. have the pleasure to announce thoir intention of submitting to pubic competition, without the slightest reserve, at Colac, on Friday, sth January, 1877, at 11 o'clock sharp, on account of the owners o tho above well-known FF herd of cattle, oaa head of pure Shorthorn and Hereford OW bulls, cows, and heifers, including the very' best bred animals in their stud . herd. : This herd was established over 30 year 3 ago by the late Mr William Robertson, by importations from ■ England of some o: the very be3t strains of pure shortl horns and Herefords then extant, and latterly most • costly additionn have been made in the purchase of the very ,btst imported sires, including, amongstothcrs, the well-known bulls Duke of Brunswick (25,937), 1 whose stock have realised more money than the progeny of any other bull ever introduced to the Australian Colonies ; also, the pure Bates bull Earl of Geneva (31,068), purchased for the sum of £1732 10s, which blood is now more eagerly sought after by American breeders in the English market than any other strain. The Sth Duke of Geneva (28,390), whose breeding is nearly the same as the sire of the Earl, having been lately purchased, wh:n nearly seven years old, at 2000 guineas, to go back to America ; and the produco of one cow alone of the same strain—viz , 66th Duchess of Geneva (C. H. 8., p. 414, vol. II.)— has realised over £100,000 since August, 1853. A guarantee his been given th*t no private sales will be made, and buyers can, with confidence, depend - upon the sale being absolutely unreserved.
