Our Hdads correspondent wirod last night as follows: —" A barque passed North this morning; too far in the offinj) for her signal to be maUo out The bai^ue Harriet Armitftge.arrivod from Newcastle yesterday aitenioon, and has again distinguished herself byimakimr asmart passago eight dnysthid time, out of which she lost one dayhove-toin heavy westerly weathor. She has made the round trip in five weeks and four days. Left here on the 27th March with a cargo <if'grain, was 14 days on the passage to Newcastle.; discharged there, and loaded cotd and coke on ship's nccount, and left on April 27th, with a N.V/. wind. On the 30th, the wind hauled to west, and thon to S.W., and increased to a strong g»lt>, with heary'sea, which betog well quarterly, nud increasing in volume, tho barque, after running all night, was compelled to heave to on the Ist iust., and remained by tho wind until the following morning The aea by tlsat time'havinir gone down a Jittle, she kept away on her course, carried fresh gales to the land, which was made, about the S.W. Capo on the 3rd inst., and with tho gale still fresh behind her, she ran through Fov«atix Strait next day. .When she w«w clear of v, the gale dropped, and light westerly winds attended hor along the coist. The Geclong towed her in. The Harriet AmiiUt^e is to lighten a foot or bo at the Port, and then proceeds to Dunediu to discharge tho balance of her cargo. Captain Malller repor « the barque'Proßp'ictor at Newcastle loaded for Fiji, and wob to have Milled. April 29th. Freights at Newcastle were very slock, aud a great many vessels wore laid up there in consequoucoTho ketch Ki-Btiel, bound from Furakanui to the Bluff, put in here late on Thursday night to obtain repairs to her centre board, which hod got out of order.'.These were effected yesterday by Mr Sutherland, of MO Port, and when the Wind changes the ketch will proceed to her destination. The ketch Lloyd's Herald was taken off Sutherland's slip yesterday, ft"tl 1H ty proceed .to Dunedin to complete the extensive repairs her owneis, Messrs Guthrie and Larnacb, have decided she shall receive. Whilst on the slip sho was fitted with a new keel and kelson, was ns-fastened throughout, and caulked. At Dunedin she is to re-decked, roceivo new fore and aft Btringerg, new covering.boards, and. now sheer etrakea. Thus the o'd ketch, which is nearly a-s staunch as ever in hor framing, will be converted into next to a new vessel.

Amongst tho ships were Corona, Sir Lancelot, and Olive, from this port. We have received a letter from Captain Strachan, of the ship Corornt, in which he announces his arrival at Newcastle on April 7th,. after a, passage of fourteen days. He took the Cook strait passage for it, and cleared the Strait on the 24th March, the third day Iroin port.
