NORTH-EAST VALLEY.
MUNICIPALITY AGITATION.
' About 50 persons attended a meeting held at North-East Valley last evening, to receive the report of the Committee elected at a previous meeting, re forming a Municipality, Mr Eraser in tke Chair. THE NAME. The hon. secretary, Mr Short, reported on behalf of the Committee that the Municipality should be called North Dunedin, and that the following townships should be the boundaries — viz., Opoho, Maybank, North-East Valley, Calton, Eerguslie, Abbotsford, and lower end of the North-East Valley, including Nor manliy. Moved by Mr Calder, seconded by Mr Aih. Donald, that tiie name of the township bo North-East Valley. Amendment by Mr Eolkek, seconded by Mr Saundkhs, that the name be North Dunedin. The amendment was carried and the report ] adopted i PETITION. In regard to a petition signed by 100 ratepayers, Mr Holmes asked how many resident householders had signed the petition. The Chairman stated 80. DEPUTATION. Kesolved that the following gentlemen form the Deputation to wait on the Superintendent —viz., A. J. Burns, Esq., M.HJR,., Allan Holmes, Esq., Messrs A. Sutherland, C. S. Reeves, Folkes, Glendininc, and the Chairman, Mr Eraser.
Mr Hoicks moved, and Mr J. W. Duncan seconded, that instructions be given to the Committee to wait on the Koad Boaid, and get all the necessaiy information re expenditure and receipts of the districts.—Carried., Votes of thanks were recorded to Mr A. J. Burns, Mr Short, the Hon. Secretary, and Mr Allan Holmes.
