Brandy .. .. 93 12 8 Tea .. .. 69 4 1 Whisky.. .. 26 9 7 Sugar.. ..130 0 3 Rum .. .. 13 15 2 Drap 3 ry .. 182 4 6 Wine .. .. 20 1 6 Sundries .. 129 11 7 Tobacco .. 74 1 0 ■ Total £730 0 0 Mr Hbnrt Driver, (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company) reports, for the week ending October 20th, 1875 :— Fat Cattle.—As only a small supply of 80 head were yarded, prices realised showed an improvement on late quotations, best bullocks bringing up to £19 5s ; do [cows: £15 each—or equal to 45s per lOOlbs for prime quality. At the yards we sold 50 head, including a draft on account of Messrs M'Donald and Doring, which were bred and fattened by John Gregg, Esq., of Long Beach, Ashburton, Canterbury. These were the best cattle that have been in the yards for many months past, and, considering the very long drive, were in splendid condition, and averaged £17 0i 6dper head. We have also 50 head on -private terms. Fat Calves.—-Only a few were "penned, and sold up to 45a, according to weight and quality. Fat Sheep.—The small supply of 650 crossbreds caused a further advance in prices, best quality bringing from 233 to 23s 6d. At thejyards we sold 600, and have placed 600 privately. We quote prime quality cross-breds at 4Jd to 4Jd. Fat Lambs.—lhe first lambs of the season were penned to-day, by Messrs VfDonali and Doring, consisting of 60 very prime quality, bred and fattened by F. D. Rich, Esq., of Bushy Park, and which we sold at 13s. Store Cattle.—A good enquiry continues for cattle over two years old, for paddock grazing—best aged bullocks being worth £6 10s to £8; do cows, from £3 10s to £5. We have sold 100, in sm»U lots, during the Store Sheep.—No transactions for sheep deliverable in the wool. We are, however, in treaty for .very large lots for delivery after shearing. Wool.—By the Omeo we have received from our London branch the following cablegram:—" The sales closed firmly at an average decline of from 1M to 2d. 26 000 bales have been held over for future disposal. 15000 have been withdrawn during the past sales. 120.0U0 bales have been token for export. Continental demand is limited. Trade in the manufacturing districts unchanged. The next sales will commence on 23rd November." • Sheepskins.—At our usual weekly sale on Thursday last prices ruled, without much alteration, a little it favour of buyers. Green cross-breds, 5s lOd to 5s lid merinos, 43 (kl to 4s 9d. Dry eross-breds, 4s lid to 5: ' 6d : merinos, 2s 9d to 4s ld. Station skins, 6.|d tt» 7Jd per 11) .' Hides are in good demand at 4d per lb, for we salted, in good condition, and as the Melbourne mar ' ket has improved, we may look for a corresponding ' improvement here for all in shipping order. Green hides sold at 20s to 21s 6d. Tallow. We sold several lots of very inferior, 20s tc 23s 3d; rough fat at 17s to 18s. The London marke \ having again advanced, good shipping tallow woul< bring buyers at £34. . Grain. - The wheat market is unchanged; fair mill ing samples meet a good demand at 4s 6d per bushel I inferior, for fowl's feed, lip to 4s. Oats are easier; larg< supplies being forwarded by railway, sales are difficul j at lower quotations, say 2s 5d to 2s 6d. Latest ad vices from Melbourne quote the market very dull with small sales at 3s 8d to 3s lid, and slow sale Barley—We placed 2000 bushels good malting at 5s 5d and hi>ve some prime seed to offer to-morrow fron I L-ike Wakatipj
