CITY COUNCIL.

The following1 are the Notices of Motion to he brought before the Council on Wednesday next: — By Mr Mercer—" That the Works Committee be authorised to call for tenders to complete the culvert in Brown street, and to fi.l the street up to the full width." By Mr Isaac — "That, seeing one of the tenants in the Manse Reserve has issued a writ against the Corporation for the amount of his award under the late arbitration, and understanding that the other tenants intend to do likewise —That, in order to avoid expensive litigation, which must result disastrously to the citizens, in the opinion of this Council it is desirable that it shuuld be mutually agreed between the Corporation and the tenants that the case above leferred to should be made a test case, and that negotiations bs opened by the Corporation with the tenants to etfuut this v.l>.ieet." By Mr Walter—" That, after the expiration of the present quarter, no charge be made for water to baths except in cases in which a charge is made for such baths." By Mr Woodland —" That tenders be immediately called fur the construction of a sewer down Frederick street from Pitt street to the Bay, as previously carried." By Mr Woodland —" That a sewer lie put down King street and Moray Place, from Stuart street to St. Andrew street." By Mi- Woodland — " That Cumberland street, between Stuart street and St. Andrew street, be metalled at once." By Mr Woodland—"That St. Andrew street, from Killeul street to Athol Place, be immediately put in proper repair, as before the sewer was commenced." By Mr Woodland—" That tenders be called for the supply of all material and labour in connection with the Water Works at schedule prices, for twelve months, commencing July Ist, 1875." By Mr Leary—" That the streets of the city be raised in the centre, or lowered at the sides, whichever may be more practicable and economical, so a.s to secure a fall of at lea.st one foot in twenty from the crown of the road to the level of the channels. And that the City Surveyor be instructed to give effect to this resolution as opportunities occur for so doing."
