Mills; 420 do, Brunton. There ib no sign yet of the steamer Southern Cross, which left Lyttelton for Dunedin during the forenoon «f Monday last. On telegraphing to Timaru yesterday, we learned that she had been seen there. The schooner Isabella Anderson was towed up from the Kaikyesterday by the steamer Geelong. We have before reported her from Timaru with wool, and may mow add that she had been absent since the 17th November, hence going to Oamaru, there discharging cargo, and touk in a part one, and then went to ' Kakanui and filled up. From Kakanui she proceeded . to Greymouth, arriving there on the 12th December, ' discharged and loaded timber, and left on the 19th, and arrived at Timaru on the 24th, andhavintr put out her cargo and shipped 200 bales of wool, left for this port on New Year's Eve. Arrived off the Heads on Saturday, but was not within sight of them, the ■weather being too thick, aud the wind djing out, she was set by the heavy N.E. sea a little south, and ■fetched back on Saturday morning. Signal " bar dangerous " was then flying at the Taiaroa Station, bo she remained outside until Mondiy morning, and then worked in and anchored off the Kaik. The wool she brought was transhipred to the Calypso yesterday afternoon.

. • The steamer Sameon left at her usual time yesterday morning for Oamaru.

■ The barque Comet, bound to Oamaru, took her departure yesterday, clearing the harbour under canvas.*

" The brig Thomas and Henry sailed for Oamaru yesterday afternoon.

The ship Florence was brought up from the Quarantine ground yesterday morning-, and moored in a discharging berth off Carey's Bay.

Tne balance of the personal effects of the immigrants per ship Nelson was landed yesterday by the steamer Golden Age, aud foiwarded tn Cavertham by train.

The schooner Spec came down from Dunedin yesterday, and commenced transhipping to the ketch Hope the cargo she had on bnard for Oamaru.

We report progress as follows touching the ships that are loading for Britain : —'lhe May Queen has 614 bales of wool on board, and expects a heavy instalment by the Samson, from Oamaru, to-day. The Waikato is also waiting for cargo. ■; She has 1620 bales of wool, between 200 and 300 casks of tallow, 200 cases preserved meats, 50 bales leather, 500 hines, a lot of cocoa nut oil, bales of rags and glove leather, and casks of pelts on board. A considerable part of her second tier of cargo is laid. The Invercargill has 3500 bales of wool on board and stowed, together with a few cases of glue and preserved meats. She expects to fill up with about 1700 bales of undumped wool, and in that «ase will be in splendid trim for the run home. The Calypso has 594 bales wool in, and is but at the commencement of her loading. The last of the ship Mataura's inward cargo was landed yesterday, and she is now ready to receive wool. Discharging the ship Araby Maid at the pier was commenced yesterday. The cargo in sight in the main hatch looked very well indeed.

The barque P.C.E. is about two-thirds discharged of the cargo of coil she brought from Newcastle. The ketch Glimpse commences to load railway iron for Moeraki to-day. ■ The ketch Eliza M'Phee wag taken off Fletcher's slip yesterday, and will leave for Catlin's River probably this morning. Whilst she was on the slip, her bottom was cleaned and blackened, and her deck caulked fore and aft. She was also painted and otherwise looked to.

The ketch Fanny sailed for Waikouaiti yesterday afternoon.

The brig Thomas and Henry sails for Kaipara with the first slant of wind. Captain Walsh has charge of her, and well-known Mr J.B. Robertson—whom we are jlad to hear spoken highly of by Captain Olark, the brig's owner—is second mate, with the prospect of further advancement before him.

We observe that the brig Prairie is in the market for sale or chirter. She carries well, and having bow ports, is eminently adapted for the timber trade. The ship Janet Oowan has discharged her powder, and will be moved to & convenient discharging berth in the stream at the first opportunity. She has been entered at the Customs, and it is to be hoped that entries will be smartly passed. The consignees of cargo per ship Florence are reminded that entries not passed to-day ure in peril of being included in a general sight entry to be passed to facilitate discharging. ' . The ship Nelson ib to be berthed at the Railway Pier probably to-morrow. She has been entered at the Customs, and will commence to discharge as soon as berthed; A sight entry, embracing all freight for which entries are not passed by to-morrow, will be passed at'the expense of the consignees. _■ 'The steamer Lady of the Lake, loaded with material for the.Clutha Bridge^ left for the Molyneux yesterday afternoon. ■■".',"■
