MORNINGTON DISTRICT SCHOOL.
The annual examination of the Mornhgton District School was held on Tuesday, 15tli, and was conducted throughout by the Chairman of the School Commitee, Mr James Anderson,: and the Rev. E. Gv Penny. The proceeding, which, commenced at half-past 10 and terminated about 2 p.m., consistediii the examination of the 3rd, 4th, sth, arid 6th classes in a manner much more briefly than on former occasions; owing to the prizes having been decided by special papers written a few days previously. Some of these papers were considered to be of great merit in- r deed. .•■■> : The industrial department, which waa examined .by Mrs Penny and Mrs Martin, was well represented, and these ladies expressed themselves as highly gratified at the peculiar excellence displayed by some of the girls in plain white i seam. After recitations and a little singing had been indulged in, Mr Penny distributed the prizes, accompanying each with a word of encouragement or advice to the successful competitor. A liberal supply of buns, which have been annually given by Mr J. E. Attwood, was distributed to the children. • • - PR17.8 LIST.
