The Buildings, built of brick and ,stone, with slated Iroofs, are of a most substantial character; : Plant (the greater jiortion of which ig«uitablefor a ■Brewery and Malting Establishment) is complete, and . jiericefcin every respect—the only addition, required ;(or a-Brewery being a Cellar, which>>can be erected for* iabout £2000. The Malt from this establithmenfc. has always commanded the highest price of. any. produced., in New Zealand; and the supply for somctimobatk. has-been inadequate to the demand.. The Veer.produced from the Malt is of the very Irestqualityi Thb profits from this branch of the buskle.s iuay.be ex-, pected to be of a very substantial character, as during, the past j ear, even with the limited amount ;of. Malt, available'for sale, they exceeded £2fl00i! And .as there would be a lartre quantity to dispose of in.convection, with a Brewery, the yearly profits would i bepropor-r tionately increased. . The capabilities of the Premises and. Plant; for the. purjioseof a Brewery have lieen carefully .examined. and estimated by a competent authority (a.gentlemau who built some of the 'argest Breweries jik tho.neigh- • bourhnod of Edinburgh), who states that froum 400 ta. .500 hogsheads of FJeer could be made per week when,, the trade required it, which is greatly-iu fxcess-of tbfe quantity which can be turned oufcbji any other Brewery in New Zealand. Water Supply.—The Distillery Company^ at con-, siderable expense, constructed a covered Brick and > Cement Reservoir on Mr Logan's property, next the Town Belt, and laid pipes to the Distillery, thus obtaining a puvate supply of the best .water in the.dis-. trict, free from every impurity, for,: the, purpose of steeping Malt, Distilling, or Brewing.^ Cottages.—On the property are three (?) substantial four-roomed Cottages, for the use, oti the Principal Employes of the Company, who require to reside, on the premises. Value of Land,&c —The Land, Bui'diugs, and Plant, of the Distillery Company were valued, by Messrs Blair and Jl'Gregor, in March last, fyr a local public company, at £27,450. Since then land ia the liejgh--bourhood has been sold considerably uj excess of their estimate ; and there can be no doubjt that in a very, few years the property will double,:its, present value, contiguous as it is to the Kailway,Termimis,, Jetties, and other important lines of traffic, A short siding, of about thirty yards in length, wilj enable the Com-, pany to place their goods on t(ift railway cars, thus, saving a large yearly expenditure in carriage.
