North, Ewj SoLtaxoits: 3lessi-s Sievwright and Stout. Bankers : The Cofcnial Bank of New Zealand. JfXTERHI SKCRBTAJIV : Mr Richard H. Leaiy. It will readily Ise conceded that one of the greatest wants in the principal cities of New Zealand is firstclass Hotul accommodation, to provide which will involve a large expenditure, beyond the limits of individual capital. This Company is formed for the purpose of erecting vi Uuncdiu a first-class Hotel, similar in character to those existing in the larije cities of Europe and America—one which will not only supply existing requirements but will offer special attractions and inducements to tourists and travellers to visit this part of New Zealand. It is proposed that the building to be erected shall contain 200 Bedrooms, spacious Dining and Drawing Rooms, Library, Private Rooms for families, and all the necessary adjuncts of a really first-class Hotel of the kind indicated. An unexceptionable freehold site has already been secured at moderate cost. It is estimated that the cost of freehold land and buildings will not exceed £29.000, aud the furniture and fittings £COOO, thus making the total outlay required about £35,000. To meet this cost a paid-up Capital of £20,000 will be sufficient, as the balance can readily be borrowed at a moderate rate of interest on the .security of the Land and Buildings. ;> The profits realized by the leading Hotels in London Pans, Berlin, St Petersburg, and America, average 22 per cent, upon the amount of invested Capital. From reliable information obtained from competent persons, the promoters of the Southern Hotel Company (Limited) are fully persuaded that under careful management the profits from this enterprise will provide a ye y handsome return for the Capital subscribed. Exclusive of revenue derived from the Hotel business proper, it is estimated that a considerable income will be received in the way of rent for the principal portion of the ground floor, which would be readily let for Shops, &c, and wou.d not be required for Hotel purposes. The promoters feel that it is almost superfluous to impress upon the citizens of Dunedin the great advantages which would accrue to their city from the successful development of such an enterprise as the one projected. The increase in the number of visitors to Duneain would inevitably be accompanied by an increase in the vitality of every .department of commerce and trade, and woidd thereby materially augment the prosperity of all classes of the community. 25ag RETURNING THANKS.
