RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Monday, 24th August. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.)
Drunkenness. — John Manderson was charged with being d unk and fighting at Green Island. The Magistrate said he was very quarrelsome in his cjps, having been charged several times before with similar conduct. For the present offence he was fined I.os. in default three days' imprisonment. William Blackford, an old offender, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in St. Andrew street. Mr Bathgate said in censeauence of his previous good behaviour he would be discharged. Mary Ann Harris, a dissipated creature, was fined 40s, with the alternative of 48 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness in St. Andrew street; and was sentenced to the full teiin of three months' imprisonment, with hard labour, for being a habitual drunkard James Malone, against whom seven previous Gonvictions were re corded, admitted being drunk, aud was fined 40s, in defanlt, 10 days' imprisonment. John Brown, for using obscene language while drunk in Princes street, was fined 20s, with the option of 10 days' gaol incarceration.
Intruders.— Michael Goldie and Richard Healy were both charged, on the information of Michael Farnie, with trespassing in the Princes street Immigration. Depflt.' Both prisoners were discharged with a caution.
