Newcastle, June 20th. Sailed.—Record, for Wellington; Ellen and Mary, for Taranaki. Messrs M'Meckan and Blackwood's s.s. Omeo, Captain Calder, arrived at. the Railway Pier, Port Chalmers, at 8 a.m. yesterday. She came from Melbourne via the Bluff, and brought 35 passengers and 180 tons of cargo for this port, She has als j 24 passengers for other ports, and 65 tons of cargo for Lyttelton and 109 tons lor Wellington. We have to thank Captain Calder for a report of the" passage,; and Mr Miller for our Melbourne exchanges, The report sets forth how the Omeo left Melbourne at 2 p.m. on the 20th iust., and cleared Bass Strait at 6 p.m. the following .day, with a light S.W. wind, vrtiich veering a little to" the southward, held moderate with cloudy weather until the 23rd. Then the wind hauled to the eastward and kept hi that quarter until: the Omeo arrived at the Bluff at 9.30 a.m. on the 28th. When in the Strait the s.-i. Ciaud Hamilton was met and;.boarded, and despatches : sent 'by •' her "to ' Melbourne.' After discharging mails and cargo, the Omeo left the Bluff at 4 p.m. on the 29th. Had light variable winds and smooth water along the Coast, and arrived as above. She is advertised to le ,ye for Melbourne via Lyttelton audother ports t day. . •■-■■■ , ■' •■■.•■ ; Messrs H. Houghton and Co.'s s.s. Wallabi, Captain Leys, came in yesterday morning from a itrip to and from Oamaru. She commenced it-late on Suridav night, arrived at Oamaru at daylight Monday, took in' a full cargo of produce, and left onher return at 8.30 p.m., Monday, arriving at: the; :Railway. Pier at 3.30 a. m. yesterday. "Her cargo comprises 1000 sacks of flour; and oats for transhipment to the brig Syren, bound to Auckland, and 130 cases of preserved meats for the ship William Davie. :■-':: ; . -••••.•; --•= ■'. To-day ynU see the good ship Scimitar take her departure for the old country. She goes afull ship—the; sixteenth of:the season—and with the whole of her passenger accommodation taken up. She is in- good trim, and. amply provided at all points for the run home. -; .Besides abundance of live stock for cabin use, there is a good milch cow with calf at foot comfortably housed forwards. The New Zealand Shipping Company seems resolved to take care of its passengers. We wish the good ship a pleasant passage, and that she may on the homeward run eclipse the rapid passage 'she'iiiade coming out here. / ?■ The brig Syren came down;-from Dunedin on Monday evening, and moored in the stream. Yesterday she shipped a quantity of cargo (produce) from the' steamer Wallabi, and we notice is advertised to sail for Auckland on Thursday next. " '. The handsome clipper brig Circe is on the berth for Hokitika, and is advertised to sail in a few days. ■ ;
