COMMERCIAL.

Messrs Driver, Stewart, and Co. report as follows for the week ending November 26th:— fat Cattle.—A large supply of 130 head were yarded

at the Kaikorai to-day, which, added to the fact that several of the largest butchers 3iad received heavy supplies from private sources during the week, catised a considerable reduction in prices lately ruling. For best quality we do not thick that over about 25s per lOOlbs was obtained, and in many instances fair good quality did not sell for much over 20* per 300ibs. Although we may reasonably expect larger supplies comiag forward at this season of the year, we do not anticipate that the numbers that have been offered during the last two weeks wilt be continued. Of the above number 100 head were sold, and 30 turned out. Our sales consisted of 30 head at full rates, and we have, duang the week, delivered privately a very prime lot from the Oamaru district. We do not consider th»t we would be justified in quoting prime beef a3 over 25s perlOOlbs.

Fat Sheep.—loso of various sorts were penned, and with the exception of 200 turned out, were sold at the fo lowing rates:—Say, for shorn cross-breds, 10s 6d to 12s each ; do, in the wool, at 20s each; merinO3. shwrn, 7s each ; do, in the wool, 14s each We sold 300 at above rates, and during the week sold 500 privately. We quote half bredß, in the wool, 4d alb ; do, shorn' 2id; merinos, in the wool, 3J4 ; do, shorn, 2dto2id. : ■■..-■■■ Fat Lambs.—l3o were penned, and realised from 8s to 11s 3d each. Store Cattle.—lhere is still an active demand for good grown steers and heifers at £4 10s to 5 guineas for the former, and £3 to £4 for the latter. We have sold privately during the last week in all 650 head, and will offer at Palmerston on Friday, the 2Sth inst., 400 head of very superior cattle. Store Sheep—A limited amount of business has been done in sbotn merino wethers «t from 4s 6d to 4s 9d. Holders, however, with few exceptions, are askinjrss. Cross-bred shorn are in demand at 7s 6d toßs 6d. ':'■■'. '■■■'- Wool is beginning to arrive in town.,. We have received first instalments of several, clips, and in about a fortnight we purpose holding our first sale. Sheepskins.—We held our usual weekly sale this afternoon, when we catalogued about 1200, "which sold at a reduction on last week's rates. Green skins sold at 0s for half-breds; merinos, 5s 4d; dry skins, merinos/from Is 9d to 5s 2d, according to quality; pelts, 7d to 9d each ; lamb skins, Is to Is 4d. Hides were well competed for, bringing fully 4id per lb for good shipping parcels. We sold medium weights, from 18s to 20s; light weights, 15s to 16s. Tallow.—None offering. Shipping parcels are inquired for. • •'■'-■-. New Zealand Hemp.—ln this product.we cannot report any business. Tow we have sold hi" quantity at £8 per ton. Grain.-rThis market is very weak in all descriptions, gustations are- nominal. For wheat, best qualities, 5s to 5s 3d ; inferior, 4s to 4s Cd. Oats are in demand at 4s to 4s 3d for feed qualities ; choice, 4s 4d.
