Our Christchurch correspondent wrote on the 11th mat. as follows : —"Therate* of wages obtained by the recently arrived immigrants must be very satisfactory. They range from £60 to £70 per annum, and found, for married couples ;^ married men, farm labourers, £50« to £0, -with rations for self and cottage for family ; single men, ploughmen, gardeners, and farm labourers, £50 to £55, and found j carpenters, 8s to 10s per day.; bakers, 2Us a week, and found ;,boyßj.£is to£26» per annum. Single women, geueral servants^ £20 to £30 ; cooks, £30 to £35 j. nurses and young girls, £15 to £20. TheDanish girls by the Punjaub got £20 per annum as general servants ; others, £1& to £20. A great scarcity of labour ia anticipated here during the coming harvest."
