Mr Fbedekick H. Evans reports that for the lest fortnight he hns been unable to record many transactions in the share market, so much interest has been centered upon the new Insurance Company to the exclusion of other business. The Albion coal shares are now offered at a little over par—few buyers ; Arrow Flat Gold Mining shares, little doiug, holders sticking to their shares in anticipation of a good Christmas dividend Bank of New Z.aland, many enquiries, at Ll6 10s ; Daily Times and Witness shares would be snapped at LSO, if obtainable.. Debentures, both Otago and Christchurch, a.re sought for, at a good premium. Drybread Water Race shares (which pay a good interest) are offered at £7, and Dn.iedin Water Works shares have only to be offered to command Ll6. Friendly Societies have receded from 7s to 4s premium, and 1 or-, bury Parks are freely offered at L2O. Greymouth Coal shares have been done at 5s premium, and Guardian shares at 50 per cent, discount For National Banks 6s is considered the correct premium, -while for National Insurance. 20s premium has be-m offered m vain. New Zealand Shipping . shares are very quiet m this market South British Insurance shares have; been extensively done at 5Us, thus shewing that? we do riot go by Auckland quotations.
