SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
(from our own correspondents.)
Auckland, April 19th. Arrived.—Wonga Wonga, s.s., from Sydney.
The Nevada and Phoebe sail to-morrow; the former for Honolulu, and the latter for the South.
Bluff, April 19th. Arrived. — Gothenburg, s.s.; from Melbourne. Sailed.—Omeo, s.s.,"for Melbourne.
. The p.s. Wallace sailed for Oamaru at her usual hour yesterday morning. The s.s. Gothenburg is due from Melbourne, via the Bluff, early this morning. Private telegrams were received yesterday at Port Chalmers, of the total loss of the barque Midas, belonging to this port. From them we learn that on 10th of March, while about finishing loading her cargo of jarrah, in Koomahbanah Bay, Western Australia, for Lyttelton, a hurricane set in and drove her from her anchors on shore, where she hecame a wreck, all hands being saved. Captain dimming, her late master, is a passenger by the Gothenburg. The Midas was the property of C. Clark and Co., of Port Chalmers, and was only partially covered by insurance. Her cargo was for Messrs Connor and M'Kay, the contractors for a jetty at Lyttelton, and its loss will cause great delay, as it is only in the summer months vessels can be safely loaded in the open bays, of Western Australia.
The s.s. Maori sailed for Lyttelton, Ada intermediate ports, last evening. The barque Seagull, for Hong Kong, was towed to sea last evening.
