THE VOLUNTEERS.
The second competition for the medal presented by Mr Seaton to the Peninsula Volunteers took place at the Portobello butts on Saturday. The weather was very unfavourable for good shooting— the wind blowing a gale right across the range, accompanied with heavy showers of rain, which at times made the target almost invisible. There were 25 competitors ; ranges, 200,400, and 600 yards ; five shots at each range. Hythe position at 200 and 400 yards ; any position at 600 yards. The following are the highest scorers ; —
