DEATH.
On the sth November, at his residence, Dundas street, Dunedin, Thomas Birt Ulph, Bs<j.:., aged 37 years.
It wonld appear from some remarks made the other day in the Legislative Council by the Hon. Colonel Brett, that the Captain Hutton who reported on the means of delending Dunedin and other places in the Colony is not the officer attached to the Geological Department, but another officer of the same name in England. Colonel Brett Said: —" A report had been made by a most distinguished officer, Colonel Jervois, and also by another excellent officer, Captain Hutton, who had sent in a report which had only been drawn up from maps and plans flent home from the Colony, and which must l>e a very inaccurate r«port."
