Friday, 24th December. (Before A. C. Strode, Esq., E.M.) Oliver and Ulph v. Perkins.—Claim of L 2 13s 4d, for ironmongery supplied. Judgment by default for plaintiffs, for tlie amount claimed, with, costs. Samev. Maloney.— Cl im of LI2 23 Id. As _the, amount claimed had been sent to plaintiffs, judgment -was given for costs only, Huatfield v. Brown.—Claim of L 2 ]ss, amount of 10 U. Judgment, by consent, for plaintiff for the amount claimed, -with costs, to be paid in instalments of 5s per week. Ashmore v. Spiers.—Claim of Ll4 10a 6d, for work done as carpenter. The defendant admitted two items, rut said all the rest formed parb of a contract; made by him and plaintiff, and that instead of owing money to plaintiff he was actually in his debt. The Magistrate considered the evidence of the plaintiff and the defendant diametrically opposite, and, under the circumstances, had no alternative but to give judgment for the plaintiff, at the rate of 12s per day. Judg-. ment for the amount claimed, with costs. (Before J. Fulton, Esq., R.M.) _ Kegina v. Abbott.—This case had been adjourned frooi apreuous sitting of the Courtin. order to allow of the production of a tender for the erection of the" Nuggets lighthouse. The tender was produced in Court, and was sworn to by James M'Kenzie and Walter Bell, as their tsoder for that contract ; that Abbott as well as they had an interest in it; and th-it he was consulted in preparing ita schedule of prices. With regard to the tender being signed Walter Bell, M'Kenzie explained that it was customary for contractors to tender in namesother than those of their firms. The Magistrate said that the discrepancies in the evidence were very great, and theret fore discharged the accused. The Court adjourned till January sfeh.
