Wellington sailed in the afternoon for Northern Ports, with a full cargo, and a large number of cabin passengers, including the Cant-r ury team of encketers. Gothenburg took her departure for Melbourne, vi» the usual round of Northern and Wtst Coast ports, at out two hours after the Wellington. The s.s. Hangitoto sails for Melbourne, via Bluff Harbour, tnis afternoon. The barque-Union, lately purchased in the ' Australian Colonies by Messrs Hutchison and Co. of :this city, arrived at the Heads from Newcastle yesterday forenoon, with a cargo of coal consigned to h^r owners. Wainui, from the north, had taken the barque ia tow, and had brought her up to the Cross Channel before the Geelong left the port. Solander waa sighted ou the 3rd inafc; light and variable winds were then experienced to arrival. We are indebted to Captain Stevenson, of the barque, for Sydney and Newcastle papers. The barque Midas, instead of coming to this port, was to leave Newcastle for Wellington a,few days after the Union. The' Midas then proceeds to Hokiang%; from thence to China. ■-—«■■- The 8.0. Wainui arrived from her northern trip last evening. She : left Lyttelton at 5 a.m. on Sunday, and arrived at Akaroa at II 30 a.m. che same day. Sailed again at 3.30 p.m., and arrived at Timaru at 5 o'clock next morning. Discharged cargo and passengers, and sailed again at noon, arriving at Oamaru at midnight, having experienced strong southerly winds; and heavy sea from Timaru. Sailed from Oamaru at 11a.m. yesterday, arriving as above. On this trip the Wainui has made the round of the ports in six days ; she sails again to-morrow.
